Is there an upside to come out of the Christchurch Earthquake?
Christchurch has felt well over 100 aftershocks after the 7.1 Earthquake that hit NZ’s second largest city. As photos and footage of damage floods in, it’s hard to believe that there could be a silver lining… but there is.
The economy can expect an influx of money as people start to rebuild. Retailers will see an increase in spending as customers start to replace their broken goods. Builders, Plumbers, Electricians and other trades people will have business coming out their ears - and as an add on effect it should increase employment opportunities in these areas. Old buildings can have a revamp, and companies that were stuck in long term leases will potentially have an out.
So even though there has been so much destruction, you can always put a bit of a positive spin on it.
