As New Zealand starts its emergence from the recession, signs of increased confidence are returning to the retail industry particularly in Auckland where the Rugby World Cup will further add to this stimulus. However, it is not going to be good news for all retailers as the industry is going through a paradigm shift caused by a major shift in consumer buying habits globally. The internet has made the world one huge shopping mall which local retailers have to compete against, as well as their immediate New Zealand competitors. Social media is the new word of mouth, being price competitive is essential, as well as utilising every technical advantage and delivering excellent customer service.
Recognising this change, the New Zealand Retailers Association is working with Expertise Events to deliver New Zealand’s inaugural Retail Show that will showcase the latest in “must haves” for retailers including technology, fixturing and lighting as well as a model of ‘The Store of the Future.”
Alongside, but independent of The Retail Show, the New Zealand Retailers Association is holding a National Retail Conference featuring an impressive line-up of global and locally renowned speakers to inspire retailers and give them the knowledge on ways of meeting and beating the new challenges. Considering the very high calibre of the speakers, the opportunity to participate in The Retail Hall of Fame presentation, and a networking cocktail function, the earlybird registration fee is very reasonableat $425 inclusive of GST.
Being held on the 6th April at the ASB Showgrounds and with The Retail Show under the same roof on the 6th & 7th April, these events should prove most valuable to any progressive retailer wanting to grown with the economu and improve profitability.
