We aim to engage the biggest network of retailers, with the best pool of talent, because making the right connections is what we do best.
Retailworld is passionate about the environment, and actively works to ensure our office is as enviro-friendly as possible. We have permanent policies and procedures in place that mean we print as little as possible - and always multiple page to one sheet. We’ve also cut work cars and all share one communal car when needed. If public transport if available, that our first port of call as well. We would like to point out that we don’t use any corporate responsibility strategy as a marketing ploy - we go where we’re needed and work with charities and causes that need it most at the time.
As a business we also like to play our part in the community; visiting schools and community groups to educate people on an industry that people often have negative perceptions about. As New Zeland’s second largest employer (second only to agriculture) retail often gets a bad wrap, and people often only see it as a career that you might ‘fall into’ rather than choose to be in. We show that it’s a smart, viable career choice and help students into employment by providing tips and skills that they can use to secure their first job.
The Group CEO’s Trish Mclean and John Caldwell have their own charities that they support - choosing ones that are close to home. Trish is an avid supporter of the Breast Cancer foundation; after suffering herself and seeing the important work that the foundation does Trish gives back whenever she can. John supports the anti-bullying cause. From his childhood John knows what an issue bullying is and seeks to talk at schools and community groups to tell his story and highlight the effect it has on children.
